Screening
of six international films as part of the !fistanbul AFM International
Independent Film Festival

The Institute of
Modern Media was approached by !fistanbul AFM International Independent
Film Festival to screen in the last weekend of the festival this year,
February 20-21, 2010, five festival films simultaneously among partner
organizations across Turkey and the Middle East. The weekend marathon
also ended in a webcast conference with leading thinkers, filmmakers and
writers. Aiming at highlighting the new possibilities offered by digital
broadcast, and new ways of experiencing connections via films. The films
were all praised by the attendees and are all award-winning titles which
have something to say about today's geographies, changing maps, and the
different possibilities offered by new technologies. List of films: Un
Prophet (Dir. Jacques Audiard, French and Arabic), Nobody Knows About
Persian Cats (Dir. Bahman Ghobadi, Iranian), She A Chinese (Dir. Xiaolu
Guo, Mandarin and English), The Age of Stupid (Dir. Franny Armstrong,
English), Vinterland (Dir. Hisham Zaman, Norwegian and Kurdish), and Bawke (Dir.
Hisham Zaman, Norwegian and Kurdish).
